Course Description

RE-SC2000 - REACT - Structural Collapse Technician 2

Description:

 This 50 hour course is designed to train the student in the skills required for certification in Structural Collapse Level 2. Skills for this program of instruction are drawn out of the job performance requirements found in Chapter 9 of NFPA 1006 2013 Ed., the NFPA Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications.  Students will receive instruction on the advanced aspects of structural collapse rescue in both classroom and practical settings, including scenario-based instruction.

 

Skills taught include:

  • Heavy Structure Size-Up & Response
  • Victim Search & Extrication
  • Breaching & Breaking
  • Lifting, Moving and Cribbing
  • Metal Burning
  • Basic Crane Operations & Rigging

 

Certification:

Students that successfully complete the program of instruction and pass a written and hands on skills evaluation will receive national certification through The National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (The Pro Board).


Certification: Open enrollment students successfully completing the course and passing the written and hands on Pro Board testing will receive certification for the class.  All testing fees are included in the registration fee. 

 

**Wisconsin Responders attending will have the option to take the Pro Board certification test for $175.00




 

Prerequisite Requirements:

All students must meet the requirements of NFPA 1006 2008 Ed. Chapter 5. 

 

Text Books:

Textbooks required for class will be checked out to the student the first day of class and will be returned prior to receiving their certificate.  Textbooks can be purchased with advanced notice.

 

Required Equipment:

Students are required to provide and bring to class each day the following:

Helmet meeting ANSI rating

Gloves

Eye protection meeting ANSI rating

Steel toed safety shoe meeting ANSI rating

 

All classes will be held regardless of weather conditions, foul weather gear is the responsibility of the student.

 

 

Registration:

All fees must be paid prior to the start of the program.

Open Enrollment $2180.00 plus lodging if applicable

Wisconsin Responders not affiliated with WI-TF1 $1600.00 plus lodging

Members of WI-TF1 $0.00



 

The REACT Center reserves the right to cancel classes not meeting minimum enrolment levels - full refunds will be issued to affected students.  Course dates and associated fees are subject to change without notice.
